Latest Updates from Our Project:

Thanks, Votes, and Next Steps
over 2 years ago – Thu, Oct 14, 2021 at 03:01:18 AM

I guess you really like Johannes's artwork, all 2,146 of you.

Thank you so much for supporting this project and putting your faith in our team to help make this a reality.  Without your enthusiastic backing, this would not have been possible.

We've got a good bit of work ahead of us, but it will be so worth it to get your favorite artwork in your hands and on your battlefield (or computer desk, no judgment).

Final Stretch Goal Vote

With a flurry of assistance in the final 24 hours, the final Stretch Goal was breached and then some.  Therefore, it's time to Vote!

Vote Here

As before, please vote for every mat that you would want included in the project.  Vote for as many mats as you would like.  The design with the most votes gets added as the 10th playmat.

Voting closes at Midnight on Sunday, October 17th.

We went ahead and added Sigrid, God Favored based on the requests from the last vote, so you should see it as an option in the poll.

Blood Artist, GP Chiba Angel, and Restoration Angel were the top 3 runners up last time, which will come out on top?  We'll see after Sunday.

What's Next

After walking around all day with a big smile on my face and enjoying some celebratory Lagavulin at dinner, it's time to start talking about next steps.

  • Check for Failed Payments - There are currently 103 backers showing a failed payment.  Kickstarter should have notified you when the initial payment failed, so please check your inbox/spam filters, if you haven't already, for such a notification.  Kickstarter will notify you again every 48 hours if your payment is still failed, so please clear this up so we can get you your rewards.
  • Backer Surveys Coming in About Two Weeks - Backer Surveys will be sent out after all funds have been transferred from Kickstarter, in roughly two weeks.  You will be able to select your Playmats, enter your address, and pay for shipping/Add Ons through your Backer Survey.
  • Production Capacity Scheduled - We've secured sufficient production capacity at UltraPro and have been added to their production schedule.  We are still in talks with them for a ship date, so I will share in a future update.
  • Late Arriving Backers - If you know of anyone that just missed out on the project, please send them here.   I need their name, email address, and desired reward level to get them added in.  The project will be open to new backers until we have to lock in the order numbers with UltraPro, likely some time in November.

That's all for now.  Thank you again for your support and we'll talk again soon,

Josh

Entering the Home Stretch & Thalia Update
over 2 years ago – Sun, Oct 10, 2021 at 01:34:57 AM

Thanks to the feedback from the poll that Johannes sent out in the last update, we're going to use the Pouty Thalia for the project, instead of the 039 version.

Mockup. Design Not Final

We apologize for any confusion this may cause, but we needed to make sure that we were adding the correct Thalia to the project.    The 039 Thalia will be available for voting in the $150k Stretch Goal.

Home Stretch

With just a bit more than three days to go, Johannes and I are preparing a promotional blitz for the final 72 hours of the project in the hopes of hitting the last Stretch Goal and then some.

I went on the Casual Magic with Shivam Bhatt podcast, which should be coming out Tuesday on your preferred podcast player.  We had a great time going over this project, my history with collecting art, and exploring our shared appreciation for Magic art.

We will also be spreading the word far and wide on the various social media platforms.

We're a bit away from the last Stretch Goal, but we're on a good track and any promotion of the project within your friend group and/or local store this weekend would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Josh

Hello from Johannes & a question about Thalias!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Oct 06, 2021 at 06:35:38 PM

Hello everybody!

So far you haven't actually heard from me directly, Josh has been handling this campaign beautifully and will continue to do so while I'm glued to my screen extending art and painting new pieces. I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you, the response has been overwhelming and it means the world to me that there's so many of you that want to see my work while they're playing! I really, really appreciate it and will do my absolute best on the extensions of the stretch goals that you have voted for.

Which brings me to my question! I think there might have been some confusion in the voting for the Secret Lair Thalia. As you know I did two pieces for that drop and one of those has been a massive fan favorite ever since it was released - except that's not the one that won the vote? Instead the one on top ended up being the one that so far hasn't really elicited a response, ever.  I want to make sure you guys actually get the art you expect, so I figured I'd ask!

So (just to be sure) pleaseVOTE HERE!

That being said, again thank you so much for all the love, and I hope you'll enjoy the mats :)

Best,

Hannes

Welcome Karmic Guide
over 2 years ago – Mon, Oct 04, 2021 at 05:48:52 AM

Voting for the $60,000 Stretch Goal is closed and we have a winner!

Mockup. Design Not Final

Johannes is looking into the art extension for this mat and I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Karmic Guide held a strong lead early in the vote and never looked back.  Blood Artist, Restoration Angel, and the GP Chiba Angel all vied for second place and will likely be the main contenders when we hit $150,000.

Stitched Edges

After reviewing the feedback from you regarding Stitched Edges, we decided to allow for the most flexibility and offer the choice between a stitched or unstitched mat when you complete your Backer Survey, at no extra cost.

This adds a bit of cost on our end and doubles the number of SKUs for fulfillment, but we want you to get the exact mat you want, so we're going to make it happen.

With 9 days left in the project, I can't believe how far we've come and the immense support that you've all shown for Johannes's work.  We truly appreciate it and can't wait for us to hit $150,000 and unlock one last design.

Thanks,

Josh

PS - I recently went on the Brainstorm Brewery podcast to talk about this project, Magic art, and more.  If you're interested in hearing from me (and learning about the amazing format of Vintage Artist Constructed), go ahead and give it a listen.
